Free: WEC software is free. The WEC software is licensed under a General Public License (GPL), which allows you to use it and to modify it as needed, but not to sell it.
Host Anywhere: It can also be hosted on a WEC-compatible web server anywhere on the internet. However, it is often best and easier to host your website with WEC because we know the software best, and it allows you to focus on your ministry instead of the many details associated with web hosting and web security.
Not Proprietary: WEC is different from most other systems you might use because our software is not kept private and proprietary. This lets you use WEC as you need to. We do this to maximize its use because we understand the financial constraints of many Christian organizations.
Not Really Free: WEC is free to use, but it is far from free to develop and maintain. In fact, the WEC software is valued at millions of U.S. dollars. This powerful ministry software is available to you for free because of funding from grants, donations, and fees for personal services we provide. In addition, WEC is grateful to many volunteers and to the TYPO3 community that freely provides the content management system upon which WEC is developed.
