Servants Led by God

We believe that the Web-Empowered Church is a movement of the Holy Spirit upon followers of Jesus Christ to amplify the impact of the Church in the world. We prayerfully seek God's wisdom as we plan and operate WEC, and we have consistently seen God's provision and touch on all that we do. We strive to be humble servants of Jesus Christ who have been called and blessed to carry out His mission in this very unique way. Simply put, this is a God thing. We have a diverse team with members from various denominations, countries, races, and cultures, but we work together for one common purpose.

Uniquely Equipped

The WEC team is unique compared to most ministry organizations because of our unique mission. Most of the team members have degrees in engineering or computer science, and some have advanced degrees. Most chose to leave successful careers in secular jobs to serve in Christian ministry. All are active in their churches. Additional skills and credentials spread among the team include: pastor, author, multi-lingual, radio show host, inventor, graphics artist, and musician. The WEC team is unique team of technology professionals who are applying their unique gifts to serve the Church.

Director of the Web-Empowered Church

Mark Stephenson, the "Church CyberGuy," leads the Web-Empowered Church ministry. Mark also continues to lead the internet ministry at Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City, Ohio. Mark started the Ginghamsburg Church internet ministry in 1997 as an unpaid servant and has continued to lead the team ever since. Then, in order to pursue his God dream of web-empowering the Church, on February 16, 2004, Mark left his full-time job as Chief Scientist of a Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Operation in Dayton, Ohio to enter into full-time web ministry.

Mark is also a well-known speaker on internet as he conducts presentations, workshops, and roundtables around North America. Mark has also provided consulting support to numerous churches around the world to help them develop their web ministries. In an effort to support more ministries, Mark authored the popular book titled Web-Empower Your Church: Unleashing the Power of Internet Ministry.

Mark has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. His education and 25+ year career have focused on researching, developing and applying advanced computer/software technology. He believes this is one way God has prepared him for this unique ministry challenge.
