Subject: Calendar Resources
Greetings All!

I know that there is work being done on this (I'd be willing to help if I can), but we need to put some type of solution in place.

I just need a bit of help in my logic to make sure I'm heading in the correct direction. Here's where I am heading:

I have created a FE user "RES:Van1". I have also created a Calendar "CAL:Van1" where the owner of the calendar is the FE user "RES:Van1". Now when I create a calendar event "Tent City Feeding the Homeless", I assign the event to the Calendar "CAL:Van1". Free/Busy view is enabled.

If I am correct in my testing, there is nothing to keep the RES:Van1 from being assigned to another event at the same time. Am I approaching this the wrong way?

I guess I'm just used to the Oracle Calendar way of inviting users (who happen to be resources) to an event and having the free/bust mechanism tell me that I cannot invite them since they are already booked. Is this where you guys are trying to head with Cal Base?

Thanks so much for the help! And please let me know if I can help with anything. I'm not much of a programmer, but I wouldn't mind learning enough to give something back.

In His Service,
Christopher

Christopher,
The free/busy notifications that you describe is where we'd like to head, but we're not there yet. Currently your best bet for preventing conflicts is probably to work from frontend editing in day view, which should give you an indication of what resources are scheduled at a particular time and then schedule your event based on that info.

I'll run this buy the other develops in the TYPO3 community who did more of the free / busy work, but I believe thats as close as we can get at this point.

Thanks,
Jeff
