Access an Extension's Manual

  1. Virtually every extension comes with a user's manual. However, these manuals are written using Open Source software that is available online for no cost to the user. The software used by the TYPO3 community is OpenOffice. You can download the software at

    www.sun.com/software/star/openoffice/

  2. To access an extension's manual, log into the Backend and open the Extension Manager module.
  3. Ensure that the Loaded Extensions is visible in the dropdown menu (top left portion of this screen). Then scroll down to find the extension and manual you wish to view.
  4. Right click on the manual icon to the right of the extension you're interested in and select "Save As" from the menu. Change the file extension from .zip to .swx and then save the file to your local computer.
  5. Next, find the manual file you saved on your local computer. If you've already installed Office Writer, then you should be able to double click the file and it will open. Otherwise, right click on it and select "Open With" and select Office Writer (soffice.exe in Windows) and the manual will open for you.
