Import and Install an Extension
- Probably the best place to look for a new extension is in the TYPO3 Repository. You can find this at http://www.typo3.org/extensions
- There are literally hundreds of extensions available, so you will probably want to use the Search function. Use a search term that describes what the extension might do. For this example we're looking for a simple Guestbook.
- There may be a number of related extensions found. We suggest only adding a Stable extension to a Web-Empowered Church website.
- Scroll through the list of available extensions. You will want to read the descriptions, check the ratings, and perhaps even view the manual before selecting the extension you want to import and install onto your site.
- When you've chosen your extension, click on the extension's title link.
- When you're certain this is an extension you want to download and install, click on the Download extension link and save it on your computer in a location you'll remember.
- When the extension has been saved to your computer, login to the TYPO3 backend of your website and open the Extension Manager Module.
- Select Import Extension from the Menu drop-down menu.
- Click the Browse button and select the saved extension on your computer.
- Click on the Upload extension file button.
- Now, click the Install extension icon and then the Update button to modify any tables and files necessary.
- Your extension is now installed and is ready for use. See the extension's documentation for more information about how to effectively configure it.
