Move a Content Element
You can move content elements within pages and to other pages with a simple cut and paste operation.
- Login to the Backend, choose a page with a content element that you want to move.
- For this training, we're going to move the Welcome Text content element. Before we do, look at the page on the Frontend to see it's location.
- Click in the scissors icon for the content element you want to move (cut).
Note: You could also click the copy icon if you want to copy a content element. Or you could click on the Create Reference icon to create a reference copy that always contain the same information as the main copy. - Once you click on the icon, notice that new Paste Element icons appear around the page wherever the content element could be placed. Click on one in a different location to move the content element to another place on this page.
- The Content Element moves immediately. View the page on the Frontend to see the change.
- Notice that the Content has been removed from this location ... and it's been moved to the Left Column.
- Now cut the Content Element and move it to a different page in the Backend.
- Click on a Paste Element icon to move the Content Element to this other page in a location that you choose..
- Note that the Content Element has moved.
- Click on the View page icon to see your work in the Frontend.
- See that the moved Content Element appears on the Frontend.
- Using this technique you can move and copy content elements throughout your website.
