Move a Page - Advanced

Although there are many ways to move a page from one location to another in the Page Tree, this How-To will demonstrate the four most common ways to do so.
In these examples, we will move the Missions page to a new location between Adults and Youth.

For the purpose of learning, look at the Frontend navigation to see the order of the pages in the menu. Then return to the Backend.

Method 1: Cut-n-Paste in the Page Tree

  1. Begin by clicking on the icon of the page you want to move.
  2. Scroll down the pop-up list and click on Cut. When you do, the selection will be copied onto the "Clipboard."
  3. Next, click on the page icon that is ABOVE the location where you'd like to Paste the page.
  4. In this example, we will click on the Adult page icon.
  5. Scroll down the pop-up menu and click either "Paste into" (if you would like Missions to be a subpage of  Adults) or "Paste After" (if you would like the Missions page to immediately follow Adults).
  6. In this case, we will select "Page after."
  7. Click Okay to complete the transfer.
  8. The page will be moved from the Clipboard and pasted to its new location.
  9. To view the results in the Fronted, begin by clearing the Page Content Cache and then go the Frontend and refresh your browser.
  10. View the navigation menu to see that the page has moved.

Method 2. Drag-and-Drop in the Page Tree

  1. Again, begin by selecting the page you want to move and click on its page icon.
  2. Click and hold the left mouse button down and "drag" the page to the location ABOVE where you'd like the page to be located.
  3. In this case, we'll drag it to the Adult page icon.
  4. Release the mouse button on the icon and...
  5. ...select "Move page into" (if you would like Missions to be a subpage of Adults) or "Move page after" (if you would like the Missions page to immediately follow Adults).
  6. In this case, select "Move page after."
  7. To view the results immediately, clear the Page Content Cache.

Method 3: Move Up/Down in List

  1. Begin by selecting the List Module. Then select the root of the page that you'd like to move.
  2. In this case, Missions is a subpage of the Ministries page, so we'll select the Ministries page.
  3. Click on the "Move up in list" icon or the "Move down in list" depending on where you would like to move the page. In this case, we are moving the Missions page Up in the list.
  4. Repeat until the page has reached its destination.
  5. The results will be visible in the Frontend after the Page Content cache has been cleared.

Method 4: Cut-n-Paste in List

  1. This is very nearly a repeat of the first method, except that you use the List Module.
  2. Begin by clicking on the Cut icon to the right of the page you want to move.
  3. Click on the "Paste after..." icon of the page AFTER which where you'd like to paste your page.
  4. In this case, we will click on the "Paste after..." icon to the right of the Adults page.
  5. Click Okay to complete the transfer.
  6. The results will be available in the Frontend after the Page Content cache is cleared.
