Use the Text Editor to Create Image Links

This movie will show you how to create links using an image as the anchor. You can create links that will take the user to an internal page in your website, an external page (another website), a file download, or an email. It also will show you how to remove a link from an image in the Rich Text Editor.

  1. Begin by logging in to the TYPO3 Backend. Click on the Page Module and select the page and then the Content Element where you'd like to create a link.

  2. To add an image link to an internal page, select the image you want to use as the link's anchor and then click on the Insert Web Link icon.
  3. Note that the Page tab is highlighed by default when the Instert/Modify Link dialog box appears. Scroll down the Page Tree list until you see the page you'd like to target with the link.
  4. You can either click on the page to set the link, or you can click on the red arrow box to open a list of Content Elements on the page. You can link to a Content Element directly by choosing one from the list.

  5. To create a link to another website (an external link), repeat the process of selecting the image and clicking on the Insert Web Link icon.
  6. Next, click on the External Link tab. Put the target URL (the website's address) in the URL field. If you would like the website to open in a new window (so your website remains in an open browser), then click the Target dropdown menu and select New Window from the list. Then click the Set Link button.

  7. To set an image link to download a file, select the image and click on the Insert Web Link icon. Then select the File tab in the Insert/Modify Link dialog box.
  8. Scroll down the Folder Tree and select the file you want to make available for downloading.

  9. To create an image link to an email address, select the image and click on the Insert Web Link icon. Next, click on the Email tab in the Insert/Modify Link dialog box.
  10. Put an email address in the  appropriate field and then click the Set Link button.

  11. To remove a link from an image, select the linked image and and then click on the Insert Web Link button.
  12. Click on the Remove Link tab to remove the link.

  13. When you are finished, be sure to save your work.
