Using the Recycler to Restore Deleted Content
It happens to all of us – we delete a content element or a page that we wish we hadn't. Don't Panic! With the Recycler Extension you can restore your deleted content ... even weeks or months after you've "lost" them.
- For the sake of this tutorial, we've deleted the WEC Prayer Connector (wec_connector) and the Map page.
- To restore a content element, such as the WEC Prayer Connector, begin by clicking on the Recycler module and then navigating to the page on which the missing content element used to reside.
- Click on the Table dropdown and select the appropriate table (if you're not sure, select All Tables).
- Select the content element you wish to restore (click in the box on the left) and then click the Undelete button at the bottom.
- The item will be restored to the page from whence it came ... however ...
- Using the Page module, navigate to the page where the content element should appear. You will notice that the content element still appears to be missing. However, click on the Non-Used Elements tab (top of the page) and you will discover it.
- Click the Create Reference icon and you will see Paste Element icons (clipboard with green arrow) throughout the page - and the site - wherever the content element can be placed. Click the Paste Element icon where you want the content element to appear and the deleted content will be restored.
- To restore a deleted page, click on the Recycler module and then navigate to the parent page of the missing page ... the parent page is the one on the next level - not just the page immediately above, but the level above - to the missing page. In most WEC installations, the Map page is a child of the Community page.
- Once again, select the appropriate table if necessary and repeat the above process to restore the page.
- When the page is restored, it will automatically go to the bottom of the children's pages in the page tree. To promote it to its proper place, click and drag the page's icon (in the page tree) and drop it on top of the page immediately above (and on the same level) where you want the page to reside.
- When the Context Menu appears, click Move Page After to place the page.
