Creating a Training WEC Starter Package on a Mac
When conducting WEC training sessions it is helpful to have the Flash-based WEC 101, WEC 102, etc. classes on the local training computer to avoid relying on the facility's internet connection to get them from the WEC website. The Flash-based classes can be added to a section in the WEC-TYPO3 Server to enable both access to the Flash classes and live demonstrations with the Starter Package.
Here are the steps to creating a Training Version of the WEC-TYPO3 Server in a Mac.
- Download and install the WEC-TYPO3 Server for Mac.
- Download the files at the bottom of this page to your desktop.
- Start the WEC-TYPO3 Server running and login to the backend.
- Click Page a the left then click on the root page (First Church) icon in the page tree. Select More Options the Import from T3d.
- Click the Upload tab.
- Browse for and upload the wectrainingclass.t3d file. This file is a T3D export from the WEC Classes page with a few modifications.
- Click on the Import tab, and check the check box to Force ALL UIDs values in order to keep the links in the pages working.
- Click the Import button.
- After the import is complete, you should see a new WEC section toward the top of the page tree. Move the WEC page to just after the Learn & Grow page.
- Goto Filelist. Notice there is a new wec.com directory.
- Delete fileadmin/wec.com folder because we will replace it with the zip file.
- Upload the wectrainingclass.zip file to the fileadmin directory.
- Click on it icon and choose Unpack.
- A new wec.com directory should appear in the fileadmin directory. Reload the page tree from the server to see the new directory.
Note: the fileadmin/wec.com/howtos directory has multiple .sh scripts that can be used to re-download the latest versions of the flv files from the WEC server. These require a Mac to execute. - Now view the frontend and look at the WEC section and see the WEC classes. Verify that the Flash comes up for every lesson. Notice that the classes use a special template to try to keep the How-To on a projection screen without scrolling or adjustments.
