Prayer Connector Extension
Overview
The WEC Prayer Connector extension implements a connector community. A connector community is designed to help people that have a need or service find people who can address that need or use that service. Anyone can publicly post a need (like a prayer request) or service (like a job opening), but people who want to respond do not reply publicly. Instead, their reply is e-mailed back to the originator and the reply does not appear on the website. If the need is fulfilled or the service is used up, then the entire post can be removed by the originator.
To help in monitoring for new posts to the connector, people can subscribe to a connector and receive any new posts. In addition, each connector can be moderated by one or more users and they can quickly edit or remove entries if needed.
This extension offers several configurable options to address various ministry needs. For example, the extension can be used for prayer requests, classified ads, job listings, or a business directory.
Prayer Request Example
Using this extension, an online prayer request page can be set up to allow anyone (or people with user accounts) to post a prayer request publicly on the prayer request page. When people enter the prayer request, they have the option of posting anonymously or with their name. When the request is entered, an e-mail containing the request is automatically sent to a prayer team (or any others that subscribe) to provide immediate prayer support. Once a request is posted, anyone viewing the requests has the option of sending a private personal note to the person who posted the request. People who posted anonymously can receive personal notes as well if they choose. The identity of people who post anonymously, and all e-mail addresses are hidden from the public website throughout the process. In addition, optional designated moderators can approve requests before they are posted or editing/delete requests after they are online.
