Sermons Management Extension

Overview

The Sermons Extension enables a church to enter, list, and display sermon-related information (resources) on their website. It provides a web-based capability for inputting and managing various types of electronic resources associated with a weekly worship service. It also enables users to access these resources. Resources include a combination of multiple types of text, audio, video, files, and active features such as a poll, quiz or forum. Display and delivery of the resources includes a variety of options that support viewing/playing in a browser or PDA, printing, and access via podcast and RSS.

Known Issues

I am entering a date for a sermon or sermon series, but our website shows the day before instead!

We have found that Windows operating systems previous to Vista have a Daylight Savings Time bug that can cause past dates and times to be displayed wrong.

The root cause is within the Windows OS, so until Microsoft releases a patch there are some work-arounds.

  1. Since the current bug exists in the Windows OS, you can enter dates from Unix, Linux, or Mac operating systems without issue.
  2. You can add or subtract a day from the date you are entering in order for it to be displayed accurately. This will work for nearly any date, except those landing on the boundary of DST changes, such as April 02, 2006. If those dates must be entered, you can use work-around #1 above.

We do realize that these work-arounds are less than elegant, and we are doing what we can to raise awareness so that a program fix can be implemented. Until that time, we have what we have. :) If we find a better solution, we will update this page.
