I have a photo of luminaries along the church drive and around part of the parking lot that I would like to put up next month in place of the photo there now on the Home Page. I thought of making a copy of the Home Page, change the photo and set a start and stop time for the copy. I would then set a stop date for the real Home Page. Then set a new start date for the real Home Page to restart this page after Christmas.
What problems might I run into doing this on a Home Page? Am I better off just swapping the photos, and not try to push the envelope too far?
Thanks for you help.

John,
I think you are on the right track, but might I suggest instead working with content areas on your existing home page and setting the start and stop dates for the individual content areas as necessary? This has worked well for us.
TYPO3 also has a capability to swap-publish from a workspace (that is, swap the workspace version of the page to the live site and the live version of the page to the workspace). Your situation is probably the classic use case for this feature, where a certain set-piece special page is intended to be posted with no changes for a limited period of time. Especially good for a complete, but temporary, redesign of the page.
I like working with content areas myself, though, because there are usually other posts that need to be made to the home page during a season of the church that have their own expiration dates.
Peace,

Mark,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry it took so long. I had the topic marked to notify me by e-mail when a response was posted but that never happened.
I ended up just swapping the photos which worked fine. I would be interested in hearing more about the swap-publish feature in Typo3. WEC is hosting the site.
Thanks again for the help.

John,
I don't know if the WEC-hosted sites have the workspaces and versioning extensions installed, or whether they are supported by WEC hosting. If you have the capability to edit in a non-live workspace and publish to the live website, then you have workspaces enabled on your site. Otherwise (i.e. changes appear directly on the live site) you aren't using workspaces. The swap-publish feature requires workspaces to be enabled. However, start and stop dates for content areas is available even if you are not using workspaces.
Happy New Year,
