How to add "sliding" image next to vertical side menu

I am using a modified "Touch of Elegance" skin, but want to add a little icon to appear next to my active menu item on the left-hand vertical sidebar menu like the Regal template has. For an example of what I'm talking about, click here and choose the Regal theme... it's the orange arrow. http://demo.webempoweredchurch.org/ministries/children/ Since it's integrated into the Regal skin, it seems like adding it to the Touch of Elegance shouldn't be so hard... can someone guide me where to start and tell me what kind of technology that uses? Is it CSS or jQuery or something else?
