Been having a Twitter conversation about this and not sure how hard this would be to set up, but we were commenting that a lot of church websites tend to just have an iTunes link for their sermons, rather than a straight Podcast link. That led to us speculating on the reason for that. I think part of it is education - a lot of people think Podcast == iTunes. However, that's just background.
How hard would it be to add a default Podcast setup into the Starter Package? Knowing that the site templates would need to be updated to match the installed SMS settings and such, I think this might be a really valuable thing to include for a lot of churches.
It could even be just including a commented out section in the template that is ready to go once you remove the comments. That way the less-technical could have an out of the box Podcast feed ready to roll - on their Sermons page or their home page (as desired). I think that this could be a valuable addition for smaller churches to easily set up a podcast and allow people to subscribe to it.
I'm not quite sure what this would take to change the starter package, but I think it may be worth considering.
Thoughts? Am I crazy or way off base? Is there a way I could look into contributing this to the Starter Package work?

Hey Pete,
Better visibility for the podcast has been on my radar as well. Since we already ship a working podcast setup, we need to make sure that people see its there and I do agree that iTunes is is what the average person associates with podcasts....if they even have a clue what a podcast is
Since we know that the podcast is turned on by default in the Starter Package we could make it dumb and not even do any detection of whether a podcast is available. If someone turns off the feeds, then its up to them to delete the content element.
I went ahead and opened a development ticket to make sure this doesn't get forgotten. If you have any suggestions on wording for instructions, icons, or anything like that just let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff
