Add a List of Files to Download to a Page

Learn how to display a list of files to download on a page.

  1. Click on the PAGE module under the web section.
  2. Select from the page tree the page you wish to add the files to for download
  3. Click on the "Create new element" icon under "Main content".
  4. Click on the FILELINKS element
  5. Add a HEADER which will be a title for the downloads
  6. We will start by clicking on the filder icon to the right of the Files field. This allows us to "Browse for files" on the server. You would use this method of linking files if you've already uploaded them to your Typo site.
  7. Select multiple files by clicking the "+" sign to the right of the filename or if you only wish to link one file, just click the file name. Close the file view window.
  8. You have several options on how to display the file links. One particular option that is helpful is the  "display filesize" option. Click this checkbox to give your visitors an idea of how large your file is (and how long it may take them to download it!)
  9. You may also want to add a "Description" of what the contents of the file are.
  10. Set a date for how long to display the file and/or give permissions to only a certain website user group if the file should only be seen by "special" people.
  11. Save and Close.
  12. Another way to link to files is to upload them directly from your computer.
  13. leaving off from step 5, we'll select the "Browse" button below the Files field. This allows us to upload a file from our computer.
  14. Select your file and click Open
  15. Click the Save button
  16. Continue doing this until you have all your files uploaded (NOTE: these files are copied to a temporary directory in TYPO3, so you may not be able to link to them on other pages. If you will need to link to files from multiple pages, it is best to upload your files into the fileadmin directory - see tutorial on uploading files)
  17. Set your options for how to display the file list and when to publish and permissions.
  18. Click the Save and Close button.
