If you have signed up for WEC Hosting and already have an existing website, one step that you need to do, or have your tech person do is to point the DNS/NameServers from your old web hosting to WEC Hosting.
Before you can access your new website and website account, you need to change your domain to use our NameServers. After this change, our NameServers will enable your new website to be accessed using your domain name. If you have an existing website using your domain, please be sure to capture any information you need from that website before you make this change because the old website will not be accessible without a domain name assigned to it.
Please go to the company/website where you paid for your domain name (they are called a registrar) and change (or request to change) your NameServers. NameServers may also be referred to as "Domain Name Servers," "DNS," or "Name Servers." Please enter these web addresses below which correspond to our NameServers.
It often takes less than an hour for a NameServer change to become available on the internet, but it can take up to 48 hours depending on the registrar of your domain.
If the NameServer change has taken place then, when you enter your domain name into a web browser, you should see a black and white page with "Index of /" or a starter website. If not, you should see your old website. Note: In some cases, your computer or network equipment may remember the address for your old website and won't switch to the new settings. You can cause your equipment to get the latest address from the internet by turning the power off and then back on on your network equipment (usually a router) and rebooting your computer.
If enough time has passed and you still cannot see a change then please submit a ticket via the Client Center.
