Limit Access to a Content Element
You can limit Frontend access to Content Elements on a page by setting the Access field to specific usergroup/s.
- Begin by clicking on the Page Module and selecting the page that has the Content Element you'd like to limit access to.
- First, let's look at the Frontend display as it appears to an unregistered website user.
- Click on the View Webpage icon.
- For this exercise we're going to limit access to the Left Content text Content Element. Return to the Backend and click the Edit element icon on the Content Element that you'd like to limit access to.
- Click on the Access tab and then select the usergroup or usergroups that you would like to give access to the Content Element. Anyone NOT in that/those usergroups will be unable to view that content.
- Note: A user who is allowed to view the content must be logged in before the Content Element will be displayed.
- To see what the page looks like to an unregistered website user, click on the Save and view document icon.
- Notice that the Content Element has been hidden from the user. If this user logged in and was a member of the Staff usergroup, the content would then be displayed.
