Limit Access to a Page to a Group of Users

You can limit access to a page by setting the website usergroup that is able to access the page.

  1. Begin by clicking Page at the top left.
  2. In this example the Staff page will be changed from a publically accessible page to a private page that only website users in the Staff usergroup can access after they log in.
  3. Click on the page icon and then select Edit page properties from the Contextual menu.
  4. Click on the Access tab to view the Usergroup fields.
  5. Under "Access Items" choose one or more of the website usergroups that you want to have access to this page.
  6. In this example, click on Staff.
  7. The website usergroup will appear in the box at the left.
  8. If you make a mistake, you can select the website usergroup at the left and click the "x" icon to remove it from the list.
  9. Click the Save document icon.
  10. Notice that the page icon for the Staff page now includes a cartoon of a person to indicate this page has limited access.
  11. Next, you can test it by going to the Frontend website.
  12. And the login form shows that no one is logged into the website.
  13. Under About Us, there is no Staff page listed
  14. The Pastor account is a valid Frontend user account that is in the Staff website usergroup.
  15. Login with a valid staff username and password.
  16. The login box indicates the Frontend user "pastor" is logged in. Because the Frontend user is a member of the Staff usergroup, the Staff page is visible in the navigation menu and the page can be accessed by the user.
