Upgrade to TV-Framework "Templating" System

Begin this process by first upgrading to the newest TYPO3 version and updating all of your extensions. Once you've accomplished this first step, then follow the instructions in this tutorial to upgrade and use the new TemplaVoila Framework.

  1. Go to each page on your site and delete any unused Content Elements.
  2. While on each page, ensure every used Content Element has a title/header (you can hide the title if you don't want it to show in the Frontend).
  3. Using the Extension Manager, open the TemplaVoila extension and open the Static DS option page and enable the Static Files for Data Structure option. You do not need to run any of the wizards this extension offers.
  4. Import the following extensions: wec_contentelements, templavoila_framework, and whatever WEC skins you want use (e.g., skin_meadow, skin_bifold, etc.)
  5. Download and save to your local computer the two .t3d files from this Tutorial.
  6. Import the two .t3d files by clicking on your site's Storage Folder, selecting More Options, and then Import from t3d. Upload the first file and then Import it. Do the same for the second file. Rearrange the folders so that they are on the same "level" as the Storage Folder.
  7. If the root page of your site is currently a Shortcut, change its page type to a normal page.
  8. Using the List module and the Clipboard tool, move all the Content Elements from the home page to the root page. Don't worry that they don't show up in the Frontend yet.
  9. Rename the root page's default template to default-old.
  10. Move or copy the default template located in the Site Configuration page and paste it onto the root page.
  11. Set the root page's General Record Storage page to the Site Configuration page.
  12. Set the root page's skin to F1a and internal pages to F1c.
  13. Use the Site Config module to update your site constants.
  14. If needed, copy Constant or Setup TypoScript from the old default template record to the new default template.
  15. Clear all the site caches and your browser's cache. Logout and then login again in order to reset the site.
  16. At this point, the site has been upgraded to the TV-Framework, but all of your content elements have been displaced. Don't worry, they're not gone. There are two ways to restore them.
  • The Individual Method: Using the Page module, open each page and click on the non-used elements tab. Click the Reference icon and then click the Paste arrow corresponding to where you want to place the Content Element. You will need to do this on EVERY page.
  • The Bulk Method: Click on the root page, and then using the Functions module, select the "Reference unused content elements (templavoila)" wizard from the dropdown selector. Next, select "3 Levels" from the target dropdown selector and then click the "Reference elements for whole tree" link. This will restore all the content elements on the site. However, you will need to visit each page and arrange them as desired.
